Madagascar

Madagascar, officially the Republic of Madagascar, and previously known as the Malagasy Republic, is an island country in the Indian Ocean, approximately 400 kilometres off the coast of East Africa across the Mozambique Channel.

Madagascar’s economy is based on agriculture, mining, and tourism. The government’s focus on improving infrastructure and attracting foreign investment is driving economic growth. The potential for renewable energy, particularly hydropower, and the development of technology and agribusiness offer significant opportunities.

Madagascar follows a civil law system influenced by French law. The legal framework is based on the Constitution of 2010, and the judiciary includes the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal, and lower courts. Specialized courts handle labor and commercial matters.

  • Agricultural Law: Advising on agricultural investments, land use, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mining Law: Advising on exploration, extraction, and regulatory compliance in the mining sector.
  • Corporate and Commercial Law: Assisting with company formation, mergers, acquisitions, and corporate governance.
