Guinea-Bissau

Guinea-Bissau is a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast that’s known for national parks and wildlife. The forested, sparsely populated Bijagós archipelago is a protected biosphere reserve.

The economy of Guinea-Bissau comprises a mixture of state-owned and private companies. Guinea-Bissau is among the world’s least developed nations and one of the 10 poorest countries in the world, and depends mainly on agriculture and fishing. Cashew crops have increased remarkably in recent years, and the country ranked ninth in cashew production for the year of 2019.

Guinea-Bissau has mixed legal system of civil law, influenced by the early French Civil Code, and customary law. Guinea-Bissau has a constitution dating from 1984 most recently amended in 1996. ACJR’s Mozambique partner, REFORMAR, has begun engagement in Guinea-Bissau.
